INTRODUCTION

Archipelago Knitwear was founded by award-winning designer and academic, Angela Cassidy who has over 15 years’ experience designing and teaching. Passionate about knitting, starting Archipelago Knitwear is an opportunity to connect directly with those that appreciate quality in the hand made and are looking for something unique for themselves or loved ones.

“From a young age, I’ve loved making things for people, thinking about what they need, what they like, and taking colour and style into account.”

COMMUNITY OVER CONSUMERISM

Community over consumerism, the aim is to avoid generating mass quantities of product to sell but to make with people in mind, with a knit to order service in place.

Selected products, timeless in style, are then offered in a range of colour options, accessible to all ages and genders.

“I’m most passionate about educating and passing on my experiences, whether it be describing processes or design decisions on my website and social media or teaching skills and creating learning environments where collaboration and exchange can take place.”

Strandhill wool snood by Archipelago knitwear

We use only natural materials and pure fibres, predominantly wool, as we care about the environmental impact of our products - from raw material, to wear and care, and after use.

Opposed to fast fashion and producing more things that nobody needs, our pieces are made to order individually or in small batches, as required. This means that you may have to wait a while for your item but that it will be made especially for you.
